November Update: Pressing On!

Greetings backers!

Everything is in the warehouse except for the books, and we are waiting anxiously for their arrival so we can begin shipping your Scientific Adventure kits out!

So about those books: They are on-press and mid-way through the printing process. The printer has given us a ship date of December 15. Once they ship, they'll arrive in our warehouses approximately 8 weeks later, so that puts their arrival at mid- to late February.

And as soon as they arrive, the warehouses will begin fulfilling orders, so the first shipments to backers should begin arriving in late February / early March.

Obviously much later than we intended, but that pre-press purgatory (see October update) blew a gristleback-sized hole in our fulfillment schedule. Plus, we're obliged to add that there are still some variables in play that are out of our control--things like customs and port delays can still happen, though surely karma will swing our way now (knocking on all things wooden). We'll let you know when we have off-press and shipping confirmation from the printer, and will keep you posted on any fulfillment status updates--hopefully all of them positive from here on out!

Oh, and for those of you who are receiving signed bookplates, they are all inked and ready to be tipped into your books when they arrive!

October Update: Pre-press Purgatory

Greetings once again,

October is here, and we have some lovely progress to report on your long-awaited books and paraphernalia! Nearly everything is already in our warehouses, just waiting for the books to arrive in all their ray-scorched glory. It's been a long, knicker-twisting process, but by Jove we're almost done and Bob's your uncle, it will all be en route to you!

Book Status

The book has been stuck in a kind of pre-press purgatory for weeks now. A little back-and-forth with the printer -- to make sure files are set up according to their needs, etc. -- is normal, but for this book, the process has been torturously long. That's due in part to the printer switching some of their requirements midstream, which was exacerbated by some communications lapses. We are, at long looooooong last, over that hump, and the book is actually being converted from intangible, electronic thing to tangible, paper thing. It should not have taken this long, but Murphy's Law came down like a Bethilda-class airship on this process, and we are very sorry for that. By backing this, you made this whole project happen, and we're doing everything we can to get this book printed and into our warehouses. Now that all the pre-press issues are behind us, we'll keep you apprised as we get updates on print, warehouse, and shipping statuses.

New Bookmarked PDF

In the meantime, we've uploaded an updated pdf version of the book to BackerKit. You asked for a bookmarked version, and we're happy to accommodate. You might notice that there are some layout tweaks and fixes as well, which were the result of the pre-press process. You can download it from BackerKit now, as you have with previous versions.

We've said it before, but it bears repeating: We appreciate your positivity and patience. We know what it's like to back a project and have the fulfillment dates move. While it's fairly common in Kickstarterverse, it still sucks, and it's not what we set out to do -- on any project. What isn't common is how supportive and understanding our backers have been, and for that we thank you, again. We're really proud of how this project turned out, and we hope it will prove worth the wait.

September Update: Housing the Wares!

Greetings violently scientific adventurers,

Our warehouse is filling up with your loot!

Short-sleeved upper-body outerwear (not suitable for extra-rocketular activity)! 

Malfunction dice trays (not suitable for tea), character sheet equipment adhesives (not suitable for uncauterised ray burns), and decorative pinions (not suitable for self defence against anything larger than a Mamoosk Lizard)!

Unused guides to malfunctions (the used ones are being cleaned and sanitised)!

Once the last bits arrive (including the book), it's pick-and-back and off to your doorsteps. Thank you, again, for sticking with us through the production delays. We'll let you know as soon as fulfillment begins. We're so excited to finally get this thing in your hands, and we hope it will prove the worth the wait. August Update: Warehouskeeping

Hi all,

Thank you all for remaining patient and supportive while we assemble your pledges. Pins, dice trays, tee shirts, sticker sheets, malfunction dice, and the malfunction zine are arriving in our warehouses, so we are ever so close to shipping!

Speaking of Dr. Grordbort's Field Guide to Malfunctions (the zine), we decided to bump the trim size from standard A5 zine to 8x10", so you'll have a nice, big booklet to hand when things go pear shaped. Also, we've uploaded the PDF to BackerKit, so you can now download it as you have previous digital rewards.

We're expecting to have everything in our warehouses in the next few weeks and will begin shipping your stuff to you right away. We'll let you know as soon as we have an exact date. In the meantime, let us know at [email protected] if you have any questions about your order. In addition, if anybody has 3D-printed up any rockets, tanks, or rayguns, we'd love to see them!
